COMBO: PEARLS OF UZBEKISTAN + TREKKING IN THE MOUNTAINS OF TADJIKISTAN

Caves with stormy rivers, red-brown mountains with snowed high peaks (4000-5000 meter) turquoise mountain lakes – all of them are tempting landscapes of Central Asia. This region is very famous more than 1000 years ago along the Great Silk Road. Our journey will open for you the beautiful mountain world in the Fann Mountains of Tajikistan. The superlative journey will be continued in the oasis city Samarkand and the capital of Uzbekistan- Tashkent.

DAY 1. -TASHKENT
Arrival to Tashkent . Meeting at the airport by English speaking guide and transfer to the hotel.  Accommodation at the hotel. Sightseeing of the city Tashkent.

Tashkent –the capital of Uzbekistan. It is one of the largest cities in the Central Asia. Here live about 3 million inhabitants. The city lies in the northeast part of republic, in the valley of the river Chirchik. To the north from Tashkent it is possible to see snow- covered tops of Big and Small Chimgan.

Tashkent - one of the most ancient cities. Its history totals more than 2 thousand years. For the first time the name "Tashkent" is mentioned in XI century in works of Beruni and Mahmud Kashgari. Tashkent is translated from the Uzbek language as "city of a stone ".

The Madrassah of Barrak Khan it has been constructed in first half of 16 centuries by Kakand’s khan (ruler) of a dynasty of Sheibanids. In the madrassah which is formed of two mausoleums adjoining the ensemble of Hazrati Imam, there is since 1943 an Administration of Moslems (synnits) Uzbekistan ". Market Chorsu (with Uzbek it is translated (“four roads”) is full of sweets, eastern fruits and spices. It is also useful to visit a mechanical lane in northern part of a market. There it is possible to see national cradles. Lunch in the Uzbek Restaurant.

The museum of “Applied Art”. There are presented subjects of a national applied art: decorative carpets, embroidery gold, and products from fabric, ornaments for women, ceramics, porcelain, musical instruments.

And visit to Underground Metro and Independence Square.

Dinner in the Local Restaurant and overnight at the hotel.

DAY 2. TASHKENT-SAMARKAND (320 km)
Breakfast in the hotel.

After the breakfast check out hotel, Departure from Tashkent by coach and Arrival to Samarkand and transfer to hotel. Accomadation in the hotel and Lunch at the uzbek local restaurant.  After the lunch sightseeing tour of Samarkand. Its includes :

Registan square with three madrassahs (Ulugbek, Sher Dor and Tilla Kori (15-17 c.c.)) - literally " the sandy square " - the well-known symbol of Uzbekistan, a symbol of city, a cultural heritage of UNESCO. In the medieval East the square was a place where governors disclosed orders where passed court where also there was a brisk market.

Gur-Emir mausoleum (15 century) - in translation means the mausoleum "a tomb of the khan’s" - is a burial place of Temurlan and his dynasty. The mausoleum was designed under Timur's order for its favorite grandson Mohammed Sultan who had suddenly died in 1403.

Mausoleum Rukhabod - the small mausoleum located near to the Gur-Emir mausoleum. 

Dinner in the Local Guest House and overnight in the hotel.

DAY 3. SAMARKAND-PANJIKENT-ARTUCH
Breakfast in the hotel.

After the breakfast transfer to the Uzbek-Tajik border. (50 km) Meeting in the border, passport control and pass the border of Tajikistan. Drive to Panjikent (25 km), and excursion of the city includes: visits to “Rudakiy” museum, who was the great Tajik and Persian poet. Exhibition of archeological finds and  Ancient Sogd Ruins and gives imagination of the world of fauna and flora in Zarafshon valley and also the city sightseeing.

Lunch at the local tajik family In the second half of the day transfer to the village of Artuch. Dinner and overnight in the Base Camp.

DAY 4. ARTUCH-ARTUCH BASE CAMP-KULIKALON LAKE
Transfer to Base Camp Artuch, Trekking from the camp of Artuch to Kulikalon Lake (2800 m) 3-4 hours. Picnic on the shore of Lake. Walking  1 hour from Lake Kulikalon to Lake Dushokha (3000 m) Arrival and accommodation in the camp tents.

DAY 5. LAKE DUSHOKHA-PASS ALAUDIN-LAKE ALAUDIN
Trekking to the Pass Alaudin (3800 meter), Down Lake Alaudin (2700) Picnic on the shore Lake. Sightseeing around the Lakes. Dinner and overnight in the tents.

DAY 6. LAKE ALAUDIN-LAKE MUTNOYE-LAKE ALAUDIN
Ascent to the Lake Mutnoye (3500 meter), Picnic on the Lake Mutnoye. Down to the Alaudin Lake. Dinner and overnight in the tents.

DAY 7. LAKE ALAUDIN-PASS LAUDAN-LAKE BIBIJANNAT
Up to the Lake Pass Laudan (3600 m), Down to Lake Bibijannat via Pass way of Laudan (6-7 hours), Picnic on the way. Dinner and overnight in the tents.

DAY 8. LAKE BIBIJANNAT-LAKE CHUKURAK-BASE CAMP ARTUCH
Trekking towards the Pass Chukurak Lake (3165 meter), Go down to Lake Chukurak (2455 meter), Picnic Lunch on the shore Lake.  Down through to Base Camp Artuch the continuation of the trip is 5-6 hours. Dinner and overnight in the Base Camp.

DAY 9. BASE CAMP ARTUCH-PASS GUINTAN-VILLAGE GUINTAN
Go to Pass Guitan (2600 m), Go down to the village Guitan. Lunch in Guitan village. After lunch excursion and sightseeing in Guitan village typical and classical village traditions and culture.

Dinner and overnight in the Guest House.

DAY 10. GUINTAN VILLAGE-PANJIKENT-SAMARKAND
Drive to Panjikent. Lunch in tajik local family. Passage via Tajik-Uzbek borders. Passport control, Customs and immigration procedures. Transfer to Samarkand. Arrival and transfer to the hotel. Free time. Dinner in the local family of “Salokhiddin”at 19.00-21.00.  (Presentation the national menu “plov”)

DAY 11. SAMARKAND
Breakfast in the hotel.

Complex Shahi Zinda (14-15 c.) consists of the several mausoleums which were consistently attached to each other within centuries. The decor is diverse and fantastic, the leitmotiv which can admire already on the main portal, is presented by colors and stars - a so-called Samarkand ornament. Shahi Zinda in translation literally is meant “a living shah (king)". As the place of pilgrims, which visiting in the beginning 20th century was forbidden to other believers, widely known far outside Samarkand. Observatory of Ulugbek (1428-1429) which is in northwest of city, has been constructed by the governor and scientists Ulugbek. By means of chronicles from 17 century the Russian archeologist Vyatkin managed to dicscover this observatory. The main tools of the observatory at that time were sextant presumably laid out from a brick with radius 40, 4 m in the end of a line of a meridian. Lunch in Local restaurant. The mosque of Bibi Khanim (15 century) - was the greatest architectural monument some kind of in the Islamic world. Timur ordered to construct this mosque after the successful campaign to India to show the boundless technical and financial opportunities. He wished to construct a greater “Friday mosque” (mosque for praying on Fridays) which should be the terrestrial sample of paradise. Timur itself observed the construction of a mosque.

 “Siyob”- main eastern market of Samarkand. Dinner in the traditional restaurant and Overnight in the hotel.

DAY 12. SAMARKAND-SHAKHRISABZ-TERSAK
Breakfast in the hotel.

Drive from Samarkand to Bukhara via Shakhrisabz (320km). Tour of Shakhrisabz:

Visit Ak Saray Palace, Kuk Gumbaz, Gumbazi Saidon, Khazrati Imam Mosque, Mausoleum of Jakhangir (Temurlan's son).

«The green city» as the name is translated, was known in due time as Kesh or Nasaf. Tamerlan was born near to city and has proclaimed its place of year’s palace ?? of a shed. Excursion on city.

Ak Saray Palace a shed (1380-1404 ) - " a white palace " - even ruins of this palace make impression upon visitors. Translation slightly misleads " a white palace ", as a palace blue as color of the sky. The word "??" is used here figuratively and means "aristocratic", "ennobled".

Mosque the Kok-Gumbaz (1435) a significant monument of architecture which serves today as a Friday mosque. Product of architecture, which name is translated as "  a blue dome ".

Complex Doruttilavat - the house of reflection and contemplation. Creation of a memorable place is connected with a name of judge Shamsiddin Kullol. Kullol occurred from family which father was engaged in pottery products and was the authorized representative of father Timur and its teacher. From the south mausoleum Gumbazi Seydon, presumably has been constructed by followers of Ulugbek. This small building bewitches clearness of proportions and well executed groove with a flower ornament.

After lunch drive to Tersak village in Zerafshan Mountains

Continue the road by car until the exit to Tersak.  Excursion, hiking, to TERSAK 4 (about 7 km).  Arrival at Guesthouse  of the family Quysinaka. 

Typical Dinner.  Overnight in the guesthouse.

DAY 13. TERSAK
Hiking in Amankutan from the Zerafshan mountains. To the waterfall and picnic on the way. Returning to the guesthouse and Lunch in the guest house Visit Local Life of Tersak village under Zerafshan Mountains, visit local village school pupils of school speak very good in French language, tourists will communicate with local pupils in French and learn Uzbek traditions with habits in Tersak village. Dinner. Overnight in the guest house.

DAY 14. TERSAK-SAMARKAND
Transfer to Samarkand, Arrival, accommodation in the hotel. Continuation of tour in old city.

Visit Afrasiyab Museum and Excavation Ruins, Daniyel Mausoleum, Khazrati Khizr Mosque.

Lunch in Local restaurant. After lunch free time at leisure for tourists, walking and enjoying old streets of Samarkand.

Dinner with Folklore Show in National Guest House. Overnight in the hotel.

DAY 15. SAMARKAND-TASHKENT (320 km)
At the morning after the breakfast drive to Tashkent Excursion on the road. Visits to the Tamerlan Gate and Honey Market in Jizzakh. Arrival to Tashkent. Lunch at 12.30 in the restaurant.

Free time for shopping in Tashkent main Bazaars.

Farewell Dinner in the Restaurant  and Overnight in the hotel.

DAY 16. TASHKENT-HOME
Transfer to airport for our return home.
